Self-Sufficiency in Style

Walled Garden

The photograph was actually taken in the late summer of 2002. The untidy  area to the left are the pig paddocks, now brought back into use.

You are looking west. The most westerly beds are, Raspberries, Asparagus, Red and White Currants, then the greenhouses, then Gooseberries, Black Currants and Blueberries. If you enlarge the photograph, the writer can be just seen in blue shirt, no doubt complaining loudly about ****** aircraft. He was working on improving the soil on the Strawberry bed, which can clearly be seen as half black stable muck and half unimproved brown clay. It has produced a good crop from ten different varieties this year.
